Memo: Vatican nuncio quashed sexual misconduct inquiry of Archbishop Nienstedt

Just when you think you cannot hear any more shocking news regarding clergy sex abuse, along comes something that really blows you away.  This situation is one such.  The Memo referred to in the article can be accessed HERE.  Warning: it is eleven pages long and a hard read to take in what kinds of events occurred.  I admire the courage of the priest who wrote this memo.  His name is blocked out on it but he is mentioned in the article below.  What the Nuncio was telling them to do is a felony offense.  This was the same Nuncio involved in the Kim Davis affair when PF visited the US last September.  He has now been replaced upon his reaching retirement age.  By all reports, the new Nuncio is a “Francis man”…..reyanna

The Vatican envoy to the United States quashed an investigation into alleged homosexual activity on the part of Archbishop John Nienstedt and ordered a piece of evidence destroyed, according to an 11-page memo unsealed Wednesday afternoon.

In the memo, Fr. Dan Griffith, then-Delegate for Safe Environment for the St. Paul-Minneapolis archdiocese, stated that in April 2014 Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, apostolic nuncio to the U.S., ordered two auxiliary bishops to have a St. Paul law firm quickly wrap its investigation and later that month instructed them to destroy a letter they had sent Vigano pushing back on his request.
