The Education Committee that was formed in late 2012 at the Institute on Non-Violent Reform of the Church met extensively and the eventual result was the concept of a series of “Leadership Development Weekends” to be held across the U.S. Unfortunately, these weeekends did not meet minimum enrollment and had to be cancelled. ACC is currently looking into using a different, more accessible format for this concept of leadership training.
What follows was the original description of this project:

Regional Leadership Development Boot Camps Across the US in 2014
A leader is one who influences others (who may or may not occupy a leadership position). Do you feel called to lead change efforts in the Church? Do you believe that the strategy to change the church by appealing to bishops is not enough? Are you ready to support the Baptized in your town, city, state, or region, to take up their power and be agents of change in the institutional Church?
ACC is pleased to offer this series of regional leadership development seminars across the US in the Winter/Spring of 2014. Join us for an extraordinary weekend of learning through dialogue and storytelling, reflection, prayer, and action planning to create change by and for the baptized. Each session takes place over a weekend in a retreat center setting, beginning at 5pm on a Friday and adjourning by 1pm the following Sunday. The all-inclusive cost is $375 (2 nights lodging, all meals, program & materials). Registration open now, limited to 25 persons each session, first come/first served; Full refund if cancelled 45 days out. Changing ourselves to change the institutional church
For decades we have endured abuses of power from the hierarchy, manifest in the sex abuse scandal, financial malfeasance, and in the monarchical institutional church where exclusion, rather than inclusion, dominates the clerical culture.
Roma locuta est; causa finita est. Rome has spoken; the matter is settled!
In a word, we have been unthinkingly OBEDIENT!
There are reasonable alternatives to being blindly obedient! The ACC Leadership Development Boot Camps will give you tools to increase your ability to discern and follow your conscience, to foster this skill in others, and to learn how to apply the proven methods of nonviolent action to change the institutional Church as we become empowered to Transform Power Relationships in the Church.
“[Jesus said:] Again I say to you, that if two of those among you have agreed on earth, about anything whatsoever that they have requested, it shall be done for them by my Father, who is in heaven. For wherever two or three are gathered in my name, there am I, in their midst.” Mt 18: 19-20
